Tis not a bug after all...duh...the caster is a Zulgor...so all magic damage is converted to chaos first and then applied....duh I say again...thats why Zulgors make poor pure casters*. If you cant get around the magic immune you can't win. And clearly even with a high strength a nonphysical character wont survive against mobs who are magic immune who have decent toughness... :/ It would be nice if the player had a choice whether something got the chaos applied to it or not but then it wouldnt be a drawback.
Sorry for the false alarm.

Indeed, a pure zulgor caster isn't that good, at least not an Elemental one. Later on you can cast the "Physical" element spells, which isn't converted, so that at least gives you one more option. Otherwise, you'll need Piercing Spells, or use another school of magic.

Ok here is a weird bug/glitch...I hit a staircase going down and arrived on a pink + so I hit the > again and transported to the other end of the + like expected. The bug being that the staircase was gone.

Btw if Physical isnt converted why isnt Missile also not converted...after all it is a hybrid of mana and physical right?

I was talking about Alteration, Mysticism or Divination. Their spells aren't affected by the zulgor's penality.

But the same problem applies. Immune is immune. Thankfully Physical really doesnt get converted.

Kobold crossbow attacks get returned as magical. I dont mind this but it seems to be a bug.

another returning bug...undead who fire off dark bolts and get them returned take damage from them despite being immune to dark. Same goes for Gnome mages and slow spells.

One of the most annoying "features" in the game at the moment aside from the various things that crash the game, is the inabilty of getting rid of the incessant --more-- messages at the top of the screen. I personally watch my messages in a separate window because in the heat of battle the words at the top get lost anyway. Escaping out of 300+ "Your Paladin (ineffectually) strikes x monster." is for instance rather tiresome, particularly when it happens every time you move a space.

today I got a bow with a firearms bonus. that realy doesn't seem quiete right. Also, it might be nice if armors wouldn't get weapon bonuses, as most of the time that won't be very benifitial.

Did you download the latest build? I believe I fixed the code, and that shouldn't be generated.
I disagree. This can, in fact, be very benefical. Characters that needs less AC will probably like a bonus to a different skill instead of Defense.

Yeah I actually dont mind the arms/armor/items giving different and sometimes inappropriate bonuses if there is a good chance for the ones youd expect to show up too. Sometimes its amusing to get a Twohanded Sword of Shooting 6. Or a Steel Gauntlets of Elemental 5 (ouch).
Also ammo being the most flexible item will benefit more from diverse bonuses than other slots that are more specialized.

To me, it just seems that items should at least be more likely to give benifits to their respecive use than other effects, I have yet to find a boots with a large plus to agility for instance. And while the fighting stat helps all weapons, a one out of ten chance to be helpful kinda sucks. Hard leather gloves of spellcraft are another example of items I end up just having my warrior/mage turn to gold.

Alot of what you find depends on the depth you descend to. Since the storyline so far only really accomodates upto level 25 (30 if you work it) you probably wont be seeing huge bonuses on any items unless you get lucky and find some levelables and level them or you use scrolls on ordinary items to make them extraordinary. So alot of what you find will be junk. Thats why it is a good idea to get some form of the identify ability so you can discern what is useful to pick up and what isnt.

Not that much, considering that finding at least 10 magic items on a given level is very likely to happen. It's not like purples are a rarity. So if you find one per levels, after a 10 levels dungeon, you should have a good gear.
