Yeah well thats the first time Ive killed a boss and gotten 1 measily lousy unmagical treasure...considering how underpowered rangers are it was disappointing to say the least.

When you say "boss", did you mean a dungeon random boss, or just a regular boss random enemy? Preset treasures aren't affected by the elite/boss status.

Also it seems to be a repeatable bug as I word of recalled down again and got the same beginning buggy message "The Book of Alteration Magic [Paralyze] disappears" and then the undead guys are unattackable. (Thankfully they just miss me) Note that the reason Jump doesnt work has to do with the cursor going crazy when I try to find a jumpable spot. All right, I believe I fixed it now. It was due to the dungeon's width and height not being properly set. The quest levels were probably much bigger than whatever values it was set to(I assume the previous dungeon level?). Since the ruins and the Lancers HQ are both big levels, that's probably why it happened.

Got another random crash for no apparent reason...I was identifying something with a spell and went to press the - key to target an item on the ground and the thing crashed. No clue as to why.

And crashed again randomly with no apparent cause just as I was about to die. Was blind/confused/feared and drank a potion then crashed.

I think school discounts might be completely broken. And I dont mean in a good way. I am playing a new pure Int Caster and went from mage to high mage and decided to give my mage 25 points of Elemental Skill in preparation for eventually getting school specialization. What I noticed immediately is that the discount is not 25% if there is one...it is 1point at most. The help indicates a skill level 25 feat for Elemental that gives 25% discount which in my admittedly limited knowledge of math* indicates a 1/4th off the mana price should be found instead of just 1 mana off. So either this is a bug or missing feature or what not but it means that pure mages suck which might be why there were people complaining about the nerfing of the mages.
*no calc classes here.

I tested it, and it isn't broken. Note that the Elemental feats applies to spell creation cost, but not to pre-existing spells(which have no real inherent schools to them). If you create a new spell, you'll notice a difference. I tested, a radius 1 power 10 ball costs 12 mana, and when I raise Elemental, creating the same spell costs 9. And in the help, it does say: "Reduce creation cost of Elemental spells by 25%.". So the feat works fine here.

A couple of points. 1) I obviously would not note a previously made spell and think it would get a discount from a new feat. (my IQ is above 50 ya know 2) the discount I was getting from making spells looked to be 1-2 points no matter the cost. I'll keep trying eventually but I found playing a mage to be quite unrewarding because of this.

The is something screwy with the stats penalties. Playing the same pure int mage I decided to go elemental lord (for the elemental protection so I wouldn't die too much from returned magics later on.) so I started putting points into strength. I got my strength to 8...leveled up, put another point into strength and it went from 8 to 7. putting another point into it again put it back to 8...As I said...there is something screwy with the stat penalties.
==edit== Went up top and got naked to make sure it wasnt an item glitch. Same thing happened. my native (unmodified by items) strength 5 dropped to 4 as soon as I put a point into it.

Either the missile damage type changed to be non-physical or there is a bug in the magic immune boss/elites. I ran into one that was completely unharmed by both the missile spell and missile ability of mages.

They are all 100% resist physical, and I'm pretty sure an elite 'G' can still be magic immune. Honestly I believe that should be changed, but it would explain things.

Twould also make me pretty dumb right? No it wasnt a physical/magical immune. Variaz said there are no monsters that are both and Ive never run across one. This was just missile immune as well as magic immune it seems.

I said it was a monster that is naturally 100% resistant to physical damage, that also happens to be an elite/boss with the boss ability magic immune.

If the monster has 100% Physical, it will NOT get the magic immunity ability.
