I should point out the new items get misfortune: 70 which seems insane. OK apparently it is dependent on some factor in the item to be transferred to but what that factor is seems random or arbitrary. I tried the same with a Viper Cloak and my level 18 heavy cloak and got misfortune: 33 where I got 70 with another set of items.

One thing about that quest ...you can't use artifacts (as I suspected) but it doesn't mention that and the message when you try is confusing: Must be mundane (ie: as if the first item failed when it didn't.)

While playing testing the rogue -- now using a zulgor rather than a kobold -- I decided to return to the monster race too, since that was always one of the more fun characters to play. I noticed that the Monster Stat screens have been revamped to show benchmarks for improvement, such as when you get more attacks or improved damages on spells, which is neat. I was just wondering whether the change is purely cosmetic, i.e. you always got these improvements, they just didn't show up on your Monster Stat screen, or whether they're actual changes from the previous version of how the monster race worked.

This is a change in 0.5.
And not just a cosmetic change, but a change to the whole monster stats and damage. The level of enemy monsters is now much more important, with it affecting the damage of attacks and spells, etc...
The Monster race was updated to reflect that change, and so was the interface.

Okay, thanks. Awesome. I can't wait until this update is finished. Until then, I'm going to have some more fun with the changes so for.

Speaking of changes to the monster race, I would suggest fixing the Flight ability for player characters (I've mentioned this before, so it's not a bug specific to this version.) I tested dragons, birds, bats, and angels, among others, and they never develop the ability to fly regardless of level or evolution. Since most of them are essence monsters, they never *will* be able to fly because they can't even wear dragon armor or rings of flying or speed. It tends to detract from the game since you're playing, say, a dragon or phoenix that can't leave the ground while you can play, say, an orc that can flit merrily about with a ring of speed.
The 'G' class monsters, at least, can pass through solid objects.

Yeah, I think the root of this bug is that to pass over mountains, you require "Climbing", not "Flying". The Ring of Flying gives climbing as well, so that's why it allows you to pass over mountains, but it should probably be changed.
