More work on music system. The core of the code is almost complete, rhythms and harmonies have been added. Now Melodies are being made, which are the "core" of a song's effect. They are made in a way that makes it very easy to make new songs by editing k_info.txt, and some scripts for the more complex effects. But no need to hard-code anything to create new effects.
You can compose three type of songs: Passive, Instant and Effect, and you are free to choose which one it will be.
Passive is like those "aura" abilities, it's a circle effect that will trigger when you move or stand still. Or perhaps I'll just make it happen whenever a turn is finished, regardless of the action performed. Of course, you can only have one passive songs active at once, so you'll have to choose wisely!
Instant is a single-shot instant circle projection that can be used an infinite number of times, provided your Charisma is high enough.
Effect is just like Passive, but it affects you as well. Useful for buff songs, and some of them will be specifically made to be used as this. And yes, you can set a Sound damages song as Effect, and yes, you'll kill yourself.
Melodies so far:
Healing Melody: Standard healing effect. Uses the standard spells damages formula, but with Charisma as the main stat. This one affect only friendly monsters and yourself if you choose to make it an "Effect" song. It will not affect enemy monsters.
Piercing Sounds: Standard Sound damages effect. Uses the standard spells damages formula, but with Charisma as the main stat. The most powerful harmony gives it 200 base power, so it's not as powerful as a Sound Elemental spell would be, but then Music isn't meant to be a pure offensive skill either, and there's no mana cost or failure rate. All you need is enough charisma. And don't worry, unlike Elemental spells, it doesn't affect allies.
March of Loyalty: A brand-new effect, this sets the duration of summons in the radius to whatever power you give it. Low power versions will be easy and practical to use as Passive songs(it will keep setting it over and over, so don't worry about low power, your summons will stay with you anyway. ), while long durations could be used as Instant songs, and you could set your Passive song to something else. Of course, it only affect allies. However, there is a low class Harmony called "False Notes" that has a power of 0. What happens if you make this effect power 0? Well, it will dispel summons. In this case, it will NOT affect allies, but will affect enemy summons instead. They will attempt a mind-based saving throw, and if they fail, they will disappear. This will make this effect incredibly useful for dealing with more powerful summoners, especially as a passive effect.
Stay tuned for more updates!
