Since this makes the first real bug I've found and someone already suggested it, I'll make this thread for any bugs in Portralis 0.2.
I'm getting a string of errors after gaining my first level as a dragon. The first is an error in passive.lua while trying to reference p.ptr (nil value). Then there's a traceback to 'handler.' I think this must be referring to the function that runs when you level to calculate the new HP/MP. Then it loops back to the passive.lua error again.

I got it too, it happened when I first loaded a new dragon, then "J" and picked #3 to raise spell power.

The room you fight (ahh, forget his name >.<) the kobold thief is dark. it's an annoyance when you can't see someone that can range attack you.

Perhaps not really a bug, but... I've noticed that the game runs much slower at times, especially when monsters are in the vicinity (even out of sight). Any ideas what could be causing this?
Otherwise, I really enjoy this version! ;D

I already mentionned the slow-down in a post, and it is most likely due to a loop in the passive.lua script. I think the one where it checks all your inventory might be the one. Trust me, when I made the first version of passive.lua, it was MUCH slower than that... MUCH slower!
Yes, when there's tons of enemies, there's this slow down... I'll tweak the script eventually, and try to optimize it, though right now, it's not a high priority.

Windows 98SE user here. Downloaded 0.2 Portralis today, and everytime I attack anything (i.e. move on a creature, and after I choose type of attack) game crashes. Played as a monster if it's important.

Have you tried with a regular character? And what monster did you play as? What did you try to attack?

It seems that standard characters are O.K. but all more or less random monsters I tried crash upon attacking - even if it has only one type of attack, game crashes after choosing that option. Tried few skeleton types, berserker, wight, demon - but it seems common to all monsters, and all their attacks.

Have you tried with the latest version I uploaded yesterday? It includes the latest scripts... If not, then I suggest you try downloading it.
Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I am playing a monster, skeleton archer.
If I push the "f" key, I get: "(Attacks a - b, *=list, ESC=exit) Use wich attack?"
Now, I can choose a) for acidic arrow or b) for poisoned one. Let choose a). Now I get: "Direction ('*' to choose a target, Escape to cancel)?" Now, I can choose a target or use numpad keys to fire in a direction and the arrow is "fired".
But now I get: "You have nothing to fire with." - more - "(Inven: a - g, * to see, ESC) Fire wich item?" Then i have to use ESC ...
This should happen when you try to 'f'ire without a bow or a crossbow equipped, but skeleton archer don't need a bow ...
Is this a bug? Thanks

Strange...I downloaded this version today and it didn't show any error messages at the start. Anyway - I noticed that some values were absurdal for monsters - I get more than 3000 (sic!) to hit on a character screen. Seems like unexpected overflow? But I downloaded your game again few minutes ago and it seems everything works okay now Sorry for bothering, could be just corrupted file.

For the Skeleton Archer, seems like it could be a bug. I'll have to check it out.

Uch, sorry...started as a lesser demon, and it crashed while attacking...whether using physical or fire attack, game crashes... Edit - giant red ant attack works, but creature has only 1 HP, and speed -10 Wight crashes. Fruit bat works, but has 0 (!) HP (d)ragons and (f)eliness seem to work. (g)olem works. (h)Gnome Worm Mage Gnome Master Worm Mage crashes. (j)ellies works. (k)obolds crash. (m) Weed works. (n)agas crash. (o)rcs crash. (p) Berserker FREEZES game - now, that's a big difference... ... (q) Bear works (r)ats work. (s)keleton Mage crashes. (t)ownsfolk have (has?) 0 HP. (u) Imp crashes as well. (w)orms work. (x) Merman and Mermaid crash. (z) Ghoul FREEZES - wow, Berserker is not alone... ... I guess that will suffice? And... You are not forced to give your character any name - bug or feature?

WOW! Anyone else experiencing this!? I can't believe this has never been reported!! (maybe because dragons works, and for many, Monster race = Dragon race ) If it's true, then the Monster is basically unplayable. Anyone is getting this?
