Overpowered thread. Again, make this as constructive as you can. This is mostly for things that feels too powerful on the player character's side, and less about powerful enemies being too powerful. I am more worried about you being able to one-shot a dragon, than the dragon being able to one-shot you.

In other news the music damage needs to be balanced a bit more evenly. I found that if I was able to maximize my charisma using all the various synergies in abilities I could use the most powerful songs in the shop and still not be near my max damage. This would be fine if the damage was commensurate with my level. (At levels 23-27 started dealing 150k-250k damage/turn via the passive)
I know this isn't that insane compared to what used to be generated at a similar level and probably won't auto kill most bosses (Went back and fought the Undead Boss and nearly died twice in the process as he blocked my songs magic even with 300+ music skill.) So I am not asking that it be nerfed. But I think the damages and the songs need to be smoothed a lot. There could be a lot more of each type of component graduating up in power instead of these huge leaps.
One other thing that bothers me is that basically you do nothing but walk around and things drop dead right and left. Fun at first but it gets to be rather staid after awhile. Though I am sure cr2 creatures won't just fold so easily. And it might be that the top songs buyable aren't even powerful enough when dealing with those guys. I certainly haven't found any music components better than those in the shop.
I was thinking maybe instead of a passive aura make it a damage over time effect that you trigger like a field. I know the aura thing makes more sense for sound in general (since sound tends to travel evenly. However sound can be directed (cf Black Canary and Black Bolt (DC comics respectively). Both direct sound in front of them. Though Black Bolt (an immortal who lives on the moon, go figure) can't really target his, instead hitting everything in a 120 degree radius).
While we are smoothing things with Music I'd really like to see Healing and stat boosting changed to work intuitively instead of being basically nonfunctional. (I don't really want to be healing my enemies or boosting their strength with effects.)

Well, that's interesting. After posting so many times about Bards sucking, here you go posting about Music being OP! 250k at level 27... I wonder though. What's your gear? If you're mostly in levelables, and have been focusing on Charisma, it's not impossible that your damage could reach that level, especially since there's still a lot of CR1 enemies at that level, and their magic defense is low for the most part. I am starting to think that maybe stats modifiers on items(not skills) should be worth 2 bonus points instead of 1. To be honest, I am experiencing the same scenario with some test character I've made. A level 50 guy with a cursed Adamantite Claymore, some fully leveled items, and a focus on strength. The result is... powerful, to say the least. Not even close to what it would have been in 0.4, but still a bit much for my tastes, especially with two-handed, powerful weapons. The same would apply to powerful ranged weapons, spells and music songs. I think the problem may be the ability to focus on base stats, which directly affect damage. More testing would have to be done, of course, but I think that any builds that heavily focus on base stats would have high damage, not necessarily just Music. It would make sense too. After all, when you level up, you gain less stat points than you gain skill points. I think changing the cost of base stats on items would be a fair move. Though I am hesitant to raise the cost on Constitution, since it's such a mandatory stat for all builds... While we are smoothing things with Music I'd really like to see Healing and stat boosting changed to work intuitively instead of being basically nonfunctional. (I don't really want to be healing my enemies or boosting their strength with effects.) Pretty sure it's not supposed to heal enemies, I thought I had put some code to avoid that. It could be bugged, of course...

Yeah the irony isn't lost on me. Vs many things if you can afford them the best song components rule. VS Mirrored Balls and sound immune monsters not so much.
After numerous deaths I managed to achieve that level and my equipment is partially levelables (3 blues, 3 yellow levelables and 1 yellow nonlevelable) partially junk. (It is a matter of gold that I don't have more levelables yet.) I put 9 points into Bardic Grandeur and that gave me quite a boost. Also the other Cha boosters did as well.
Stats level 25 not 27( I lost a few levels after the crash. That's a lesson to be taken to heart, save early and often!) Con base = 12 +mods (105 from equipment) = 117 for a merely adequate 27772 hp Cha base = 48 +mods (188 from bonuses) = 236
The song I have at the top is as follows: Melody (Piercing sounds) +Synchronized Notes + Fast Rhythm. (the best of each component buyable in the M store.) This gives quite a variance with 250k at the top end and 150k at the bottom with about 190k as an average (yes I know it isn't the mean but I think that means that the monsters dying just didn't have enough hp to take more.)
I think it is the synergy between high music skill (150 base/300 total) and high charisma that give the damage boost and those are from the various Abilities which are as follows:
4 Improved Songs 5 Lore of the Bard (bonus to cha) 3 Charismatic Musician (bonus to cha and music) 3 Bardic Reputation (bonus to cha but only for rp purposes) 1 Enthralling Songs (Basically a waste since even before my songs were better the enthralling thing just made them all friends without defeating them and so gave no experience. Now I assume anything that could survive the damage wouldn't be affected anyway.) 9 Bardic Grandeur (bonus to cha and vs Resists + fascinate which I have yet to witness which means I guess that the range is less than my song radius.)

Additionally of the 188 bonus points 76 are from items (I checked manually)
