It used it's dark claw from a tile away a few times and from more than a tile away in one instance.
In separate bug report I seem to have crashed this time using the Instant Item Leveling up Scroll. Apparently it a) does not disappear from the inventory, b) loops infinitely and c) adds "blah blah gains a level!" --more-- to the top of the screen.

Correction it isn't infinite...just seemed that way...perhaps not so much with the message on top of the screen eh? Once should suffice I think. And it did disappear from the inventory after the incredibly lengthily display.

New Bug: When I step on water I get the message 'You are drowning' and then crash. A bit like the lava bug. Do you have a save file? If so, can you email it to me? Just emailed the file to you.

Can verify the lava and water crashes. It actually makes things problematic until I get Grow Trees and cover both (can either fly over them or dig, which leaves a normal floor.) But thanks for the clarification on the Defender. Pity the two newly updated classes are essentially antithetical to each other, else I could test them both with the same character.

I have it repeating for each level, but, of course, it's instantaneous with the very fast messages (clearing the -more- prompt) activated.

33 I believe and I I don't have the autoclear on because it just zooms past the messages I want to read which can be awkward. Also when I am a little confused it helps clear things up. The downside is of course having to clear each --more-- but even 33 mores shouldn't take 15mins to queue up. (Once they started they were relatively fast to clear.)

You fixed the rares shop to prevent buying items at a lower price than you sell them but I don't think that fix applies to other stores.

Old bug rearing its ugly head. "pet" P (high Paladin) turned enemy with 0 provocation, 5 align. Luckily didn't lose any align for killing him.

where: Temple of the Creator when: after talking to the G priest (and getting the orb) what: the temple has no apparent exit and moving down to the bottom of the screen just puts you in an invisible area.

Sent you the save file. Then exited via the save point and the < above the bottom floor instead of talking to the priest. Then I WORed back down and everything was fine.

Very minor, not sure if it really qualifies as a bug and it didn't cause any problems at all, but since I've never seen in in previous versions, I figured I should mention it -- in a rod/spellbook vault, the final spellbook chamber had an iron chest in the upper left hand part, with the spellbook that would have been in that spot sitting outside the door. It wasn''t a drop since there wasn't a monster in that part period.

Using a version compiled under linux (64bit), I noticed something strange. The alteration spell 'Raise Charisma' doesn't seem to work, though the others do. I tracked it down to code in xtra1.c in calc_stats(int mode).
Basically, it has a loop from i = 0 till i<6, but the statement that applies that Charisma boost has i==6 as a condition. I messed around with it a bit, and lowering all the numbers by 1 makes it so none of the buff spells work - basically, whatever you do gets wiped later when you compare to ind and set equal if they aren't, but putting a separate i=0;i<6 loop after the first loop specifically for the temporary buffs (and of course fixing the numbers) seems to fix it (although I'm not sure how that interacts with interdependencies between stats).
If you fix that, do be aware that Raise Charisma can be used to generate infinite wealth at shops, since they'll buy items at normal value and sell them to you for a few 100gp.
Also, though this may be a more linux-specific issue, I often have a bug where the level is generated with nowhere to stand, or for whatever reason my character is placed at 0,0 in the corner. The old angband code assumes that the outer border of the level is all impassable, and so it doesn't have range checking on several variables that are indexes into the map array. When a Portralis level is generated with an open edge (or if the player is placed there somehow), you get a segfault as it tries to do visibility calculations out of bounds. I fixed the segfault by putting range checking in (so at worst I can Word of Recall), but I don't know why its generating levels with nowhere to stand like that.
I've also noticed that for some reason, several of the advanced classes are inaccessible due to an impossible class level requirement in classes.txt (requires level 99 of class 30 iirc), but I don't know if thats intentional or not.
I've also encountered a missing T200.txt error when trying to go to the temple of Shan. I think there was another such bug in Fidac when asking about the temple there.
