I have a priest/paladin right now and was thinking about making a soul guardian. I read that when you capture a soul, it becomes an eternal item in your inventory. I understand that eternal items persist through death, but does it also mean that you can use the soul more than once? I like the idea of the soul guardian, but not sure if I want to play one if I have to capture a brand new soul everytime I want to use an ability.
Thanks.
EDIT: Also, I just thought of another question. When you use spells like Reduce hit, does it have a duration, or does it last as long as the monster is alive?

When you capture the soul, it's permanent, you can use it as much as you want. Some abilities puts a delay though, and can only be used every X turns. Also, Soul Bind and the last Soul Guardian ability does sacrifice the soul. But otherwise, you don't have to recapture souls every times.
Reduce Hit is permanent, and so is Reduce Defense, Level and Speed.
