Anyway, this is a Fighter/Warrior, and an attempt to build around the Taunt ability. And so far, it works rather nicely.
The idea is simple: Taunt enemies, and have them attack. Then counter attack. Taunt is nice, as it makes many melee/casting hybrids such as Hounds and Imps have 0% cast chance and force them into melee. Even against pure casters, it pulls them right next to my character, and gives a chance of not casting spells, so it's quite useful.
For passive damages buffs, Sheer Power gives a nice 100% buff at level 5. Another 100% against taunted enemies, +50% from Battle Skill. Total of +250% modifier from abilities, +to_d, so a total of 1187% modifier. I chose Battle Skill amongst other skills because of the bonus to ac and to hit, in addition to damages. AC is important here, since I often get surrounded, so damages must be mitigated as much as possible. And extra accuracy is good, so this ability proved to be more useful than more points in, let's say, Sheer Power would have been.
It seems like my to_d is rather high, more than my items would suggest. I guess I may have forgotten to take out the to_d bonus from strength. Though unintentional, I probably will leave it that way for the moment, as melee doesn't seem overpowered. Since they cannot have magic's high, fixed base damages(and AoE), or ranged's percentile modifiers, I guess extra to_d from strength is a good way to make up for it. I've just noticed that Monks do not get this significant bonus from their Power through Spirit ability, so that will probably be added. A side effect of this is that it makes passive damage buffs from abilities a bit less attractive. Although that also allow to focus on other types of abilities(such as combat feats, defensive/accuracy buffs, etc...), which will end up being more helpful than just more and more passive buffs.
Now exploring depths 45+, my level and gear are perhaps a bit too low. I can defeat many CR1 enemies without problems, but some elites/boss can cause problems, or large numbers, and sometimes I have to back off. Now, most CR2 poses a challenge. Efreets and Ninja Mistresses are quite nasty, ghosts are a pain, since I don't have elemental weapons to kill them. (for some reasons, almost no reds dropped off, so no red weapons with elemental attributes) But the Drakes are the real terror here. They are overpowered, imo, since summoning Mature Dragons is far, far deadlier than it used to be. The Drakes, themselves, are quite powerful as well. I'll try to level up a bit more, maybe if I can Taunt them off, or use some tactics, perhaps I can overcome them. But still, their Mature Dragons summoning seems too powerful. Mature Dragons are CR3 after all, and having many of the pop-up can easily mean a trip to Limbo.
That's my experience so far. I might continue playing with the character, as it's quite successful, but I'm starting to miss the overworld, storyline, quests, the Flow and random dungeons, so I might start working on bringing everything back, and get the alpha 2 out.
