Can someone explain the rules for wisdom based spellcasting? The specifics are not in the help files.
Thanks, Riftor

Don't have the greatest understanding of the actual coding behind it or anything, but I think I can tell yeh the basics at the least...
Wisdom casting's chance to fail is based on the difference between the spells mana cost and your wisdom stat -- A 5 cost spell will never fail (as far as I've noticed) if you have 5 wisdom, for example. Casting spells with a higher cost than your wisdom stat will have an increasingly severe chance to fail, as well as a chance to smack you in the head for a point or three of wisdom drain. The drain's not too likely unless you try to cast a spell that's a rather silly cost higher than your wisdom, though. Beyond the chance to fail, as near as I know, wisdom casting works more or less the same as int casting -- the various skill specialities and High Mage abilities effect it in the same manner, as do racial bonuses and similar stuff.
That's all I can think of, righ' now. Hope it helps, heh.
<Edit> *whaps self* Oh yeah... if it wasn't obvious, and just to cover all the bases, wisdom casting never costs SP, period. The chance to fail is its trade off for costing SP.

I will add a little more detail to Frumple's description, though I'm not entirely certain either.
You have a wisdom casting strength equal to five per point of wisdom over five (with 10 wisdom you have a casting strength of 25, with 20 wisdom it's 75, etc). You can safely attempt to wisdom-cast any spell whose cost is less than or equal to your wisdom casting strength. Success is not certain however. When you try, a random number between 1 and your wisdom casting strength is rolled. If this number is equal to or higher than the spell cost, you succeed. If it is lower than the spell's cost, you fail.
You may attempt to cast a spell whose cost is up to twice your wisdom casting strength, however, success is a very small chance. Failure in this attempt can result in stunning, paralysis, and/or stat drains.
If you attempt to cast a spell whose cost is lower than your wisdom, you can not fail.

Have you checked the formulas guide? It's explained there! grindorin's description is almost correct, except that you roll a number of (1 to wis) versus (1 to spell's cost), not (1 to wis) versus (spell's cost). It's all explained in the formulas guide.

Smacks self in head! Sorry, the formula help was the one document I didn't read.
