Is it just me or is there a curse on artifacts?? Its seems that shortly after gaining a new artifact, be it weapon or armor, my characters come to sudden, untimely deaths. Maybe my play style gets more aggressive with a newly empowered character, I don't know. All I know is that I barely have time to enjoy em and they're gone. This is of course especially irritating in the case of sentient weapons which I always hope to be able to grow to awesome heights of power...

Even with the best sword in the world, that monster might still return physical attacks... Yay! I found a super powerful sword! Hah hah, I'm invincible! *Hits some orcs* HAHA! *Hits a dragon* HAHAHAHAHAHA! DIE!! *Hits a Mirror Ball* Haha....err...oh crap... -- Loses the sword, death count +1

Variaz...just read your comment. How many times have my characters smacked a mirror ball (usually by mistake) ?? Too many. Oh man, can I relate to that scenario...

So the Mirror Balls were a success after all! ;D But you can kill them easily using physical abilities(Spin Attack, Accurate Strike) or by shooting them with a bow/crossbow/sling or thrown object. I'm sure you will LOVE the Gnome Trickster too!
