I was wondering if the rest of you have abilities that you put 1 AP in no matter what type of character. Right now, I only have two for any build, Divine Blood (Priest clvl 1) and Resist Impure (Paladin clvl 1). I'll also add Champion of Good (Paladin clvl 10) to most. Everything else really depends on the build. Does anyone else have abilities they'd recommend?

Jump. 1 point in Agility pays big dividends when you can pump your Agility with eq. So very useful.
EDIT: ok, so Jump is a feat and not a class ability. I still say the same "1 point to get big payoff" idea applies.

Ranger's Wilderness Lore so see around and Forestry to cross trees - for every character without flying.

Could you explain why you get those. I don't see Wilderness Lore as being so useful since light is cheap on levelables, and while trees are annoying when you need to go a long distance , I don't see Forestry being worth it. The only possible exception being that quest where you have to go into the jungle. However, you could always just switch to ranger to get through the trees, and switch to whatever class you actually use when you get there.

Wilderness Lore sows everything around your character. Not only the free spaces, everything! Forestry useful in random dungeons. You can move around where monsters can't. Escape, refresh your spells or to avoid a powerful enemy - it was a great help for me many times.

While that is useful Im not sure it justifies 3 more levels in a class unless you plan to use that class anyway.

30 class-kills - isn't a great cost for a permanent detect surround spell. Especially when you play with a shadow stalker and hate all light:)

I agree that Wilderness Lore would make the cut for a Shadow Stalker, since you want as little light as possible. If traps did something and if you couldn't tell where a secret door is by the wall tile, then I would say it's worth it for anyone. I also agree with you that gaining the 3 class levels is nothing for a useful ability.

Dow Im sorry I dont see that at all...an iffy maybe useful ability to me doesnt justify crossing over to yet another class...particularly since usually classes need some support statwise/skillwise to be functional. You CAN just grind your 3 levels out if something is important enough but why bother for Wilderness Lore? I dont see it. Really.

Reveal effects can help a Shadow Stalker, but Wilderness Lore won't help much, especially just 1 point. 30 agility will do the trick.
The actual Reveal spell will actually be much better than Wilderness Lore.

Yeah Reveal would be better, but I don't think I've ever seen a Reveal Book.

You see them sometimes in the black market.
I didn't like the Ranger Wilderness Lore ability at all because the last time I tested it (quite a while ago I admit) it didn't work in dungeons, only in the wilderness.
Hmm maybe it didn't work in quest dungeons? I don't know, but even if that is the case, I still don't like it

It works in dungeons, though not in quests.
I think it's useful, for it permanently enlight the area, and you can see monsters moving on these areas. You can then use the Stalker's ability to teleport back there safely.
But really, 1 point is all you need in this one.

Last time I used it, Wilderness Lore does work in the dungeons. However, it does not work while running (via the '.' command), which is extremely annoying. If that were corrected, I would happily burn 1 AP in it.
On-topic though: Divine Blood (though usually 2 AP, not 1), Divine Items (no more identify scrolls), Forestry (as mentioned, it be valuable for running away). Divine Might used to be one, until it got nerfed a bit.

Become a Soul Guardian to gain the Capture Soul ability, and one point in Bind Soul to make great lamps (and basic ammo if you aren't a marksman). Don't vaste those precious souls:)
