I seem to have run afoul of the poisoning crash bug...for some reason I didnt expect to lose 156 hp without healing at level 5 hit by a kobold bolt's poisoning. So I was totally unprepared for the crash that happened at the end when my hit point total went negative. I will reiterate what I said before...Poison durations are waaaaay too long...I have had poison last thousands of turns at low levels since build 3. I understand the need to beef up the nasties but perhaps there should be grades of poisons as there are poison potions...(which is another beef of mine...no useful nonalchemist potions ...I mean Enchanters and Alchemists love potions but to the rest of the world they are simply a myriad of inexplicable junk for the most part except for the never found restoratives.)

Started over with yet another character...ran into the same problem...but since I KNEW that the poison wouldnt wear off I was able to run to the stairs, get back to town, find the priest temple, see that the spell I need wasn't there so buy some cure light wound potions at an exhorbitant rate (priests? more like thieves with fancy clothes!) healed some hp run out of town run back check the temple...finally buy the heal spell...then spend another 1500 turns healing until the poison gave up and ran away in despair of making me crash again. So in conclusion I think its really obvious that at level 5 you should NOT have to contend with poisons that will crash the game if you don't somehow have the answer. Twas a close thing to get to the temple before my hp hit zero. I'd rather just die right out (and not crash) than to deal with that nonsense all the time. Now that I have the heal spell I can waste 15-20mins I suppose to cure the poison until I find a restore status spell in a high level (low depth) dungeon. Please fix poisons V!
Seriously, getting poisoned before the restore status spell is available is making the game unplayable because you cant really do much of anything (run, heal normally, rest, etc) until your poison duration goes away and at 2k or more turns a duration you can be spending that time (real time) just sitting and casting heal repeatedly until it wears off or you get bored, or frustrated...delete the program and any other files associated with it and resolve to never play it again...Not that I would...but it is a temptation based on the level of angst Im feeling about this.
