All right, you might have been aware of it if you messed up with the data files already, but I'll tell you of this new feature that I silently introduced without warning anyone. Basically, in the r_info, you can add an "L:" line to monsters, which contain a single number. It's the number of lives the monster has. So to give 1 extra life to a monster, it's "L:1". Simple. Whenever you kill a monster with extra lives, it will lose one life point, then recover all it's hp. So if the monster has 2 lives, you must kill it a total of three times before it's actually dead. Not only does this gives enemies much more hp, but it also ensure that you will not one-hit-kill them, and you'll need to give them a minimum of blows before they die. Nasty little feature, heh? Also, lives aren't supported when playing as the Monster race.

SPOILER WARNING
You mentioned in your spoiler thread in the tips and strategies forum, that the returning dead regenerate their extra lives every time they take an action. Is this true for all monsters with extra lives, or just returning dead?

Already answered the question. Indeed, lives only gives more practical hp, as well as preventing one-hit-kills. It does not give the regenerating ability of the Restless Dead.
