Currently if you wear no gear items, blessing gives no AC bonus regardless of natural AC bonuses. This prompted me to do some further probing of the AC system.
I'm wearing some non chest armor pieces, which I'm assuming don't interfere with my dodge ability although I haven't checked yet. I haven't found any way to combine armor values to get the bonus from bless that I'm actually seeing.
Fully geared, i get 41 points of AC from bless. Taking off a cloak that is [3, +9] and gives 3 dex, my unblessed AC drops from 370 to 333, but blessed I only drop from from 411 to 395. So i get more ac from bless with fewer items, but still less overall( with item: 411-370 = 41, 395 -333 = 62) I'm guessing it has something to do with when fractions are dropped in some calculation somewhere.
I'm having some issues figuring out how the the AC system is set in general. I've done a little probing, but my to_ac bonus doesn't match anything I would expect. Would it be possible to get the AC formula fully described? Agility says it adds a multiplier to base AC for every 6 points, and +3 to_ac per point of agility. I have 24 points, so should theoretically have a *5 multiplier, correct? It doesn't seem to be working that way. It doesn't actually say what size multiplier, so it might be 10% or something.
Here's my relevant unequipped stats, and the numbers don't add up the way formulas say they should.
My actual base ac is 132 with to_ac of 120.
Well, the Base AC holds up. But I'm not sure where the modified to_ac is coming from. It looks as though i'm 48 shy.
I already figured out that dex boosts to_ac, not base AC. (the help files are not quite right). Although adding a ring that's +3 dex increases by to_ac by 2, which didn't seem right...
Near as I can tell, it's 5*agility + Base ac, with dex adding +1 to_ac per 2 point above 5. That's consistent with what happens when I add the ring, and when I switch classes to lose 2 agility and 3 martial arts thus losing 10 to_ac and 6 AC. I haven't probed further, as I was hoping you could post how exactly ac is calculated. Or source code. I could try to dig through it to find out.
I don't know what's going on with items either. except for a helm thats [7, +8] everything gives exactly it's listed stats. No multiples anywhere. The helm increases my base ac by 7 as indicated, but I get 22 to_ac from it. It looks as though i'm getting 2*base ac of this item added as to_ac. Which I would assume is from agility, but why don't my gloves, boots, or cloak get that bonus?
