Are there any advantages to not taking a class as soon as you've started?

Well... I've sometimes found that there isn't a bow in the shop... So archers are kinda tricky...

I think we can go somewhere with this.
How about adding some powers like:
1) Higher chance of discounts at stores. 2) Higher chance of being ignored by monsters. 3) Tiny chance of 1-hit KO (beginners luck ;D). 4) Don't revive naked if killed. 5) Can't do most quests.
All these only if your permanently remain class-less.

That would deny the point of this variant. It is all about multi-classing, not about staying a nothing.

Heh-heh. I guess only Variaz can tell us what he want to achieve with his variant.
To me, the game promises flexibility and freedom to choose. And being class-less would seem to go along with the promise. Accept for the one-hit KO, my suggestion won't make the class-less character powerful. It's more for people who likes challenges or for people who want to explore what the game world has to offer in terms of monsters and items rather than be tied up with skills and abilities. (Not that the latter is a bad thing.) Ultimately the option to choose a class is there...

Play a monster. They only have 3 abilities, and no classes whatsoever.

I won't add any special powers to the Apprentice. Players are not supposed to stay in that class, it's basically just a temporary class until you change. (and if you've noticed, you cannot change BACK to an Apprentice!). But why did I choose to not simply remove the Apprentice, and to give a class selection during the character's birth? Well... I know some peoples might be dying to try a classless challenge, so... (and believe me, they WILL die! )
