Not sure if this is a bug or not, but there seems to be a huge difference between the coded HP value of monsters and their actual HPs. I know the newbie guide says that monster HPs are multiplied by level, but for uniques, shouldn't that already be calculated in? (IE according to the data file, the executioner has 3000+ HPs, but in reality he has over 200000!) If nothing else, is the game building on monster HPs fronm level 1 or from standard level? (If a monster is normally level 20 and you run across one at level 21, is it getting 1 or 21 levels of extra HPs? The first one makes sense, but I must have bad luck, since even barely leveled monsters seem to have a LOT o' life...)

The life definition in the r_info is the base life, and for every levels, it gets increased. The higher the base life, the higher the increase by level. Also, every 25 levels, the hp gets multiplied, so at the end, it can get really high! It's not a bug, but rather the result of my evil and twisted mind! ;D (And I did increase quite a bit in 1.7.1 from 1.7.0.... and I do not plan on lowering it in 1.7.2!)
