I can't seem to get the new beta to run properly. After clicking on the Angband icon/file, it starts to load, but I only get the 3 initial windows with a cursor that looks like a black rectangle with yellow borders. Nothing happens after that. Help? Oh...and it's good to be back. I had some serious internet problems for the last 3 months  paratoos |

I just tried the beta I uploaded, and I am not getting this error... hmmm... did you properly extract all the files? Also, which version of Windows are you using? This was compiled under Windows XP, and I haven't tried on an older Windows OS such as 95/98... Other than that... I don't know actually... I never experienced it, and no one else reported it so far...  You say you see the cursor... have you tried pressing enter as couple of times, and see if something happens? PS: I'm glad to hear from you again! |

Nvm, I got it to work. I had to reboot my computer though Just finished the little orc/kobold quest line and got trounced hard by the level 30 Orc champs while trying to flee to the north. That might be a bit of a death trap with them right by the town hall. Suggestions? |

The level 30 orc champions are there to prevent you from trying to fight! You're supposed to flee!  Whether you successfully flee or die, the orcs won't be there once you return/resurrect. If you want to flee successfully, either try to flee to the north, or use a scroll of teleportation. If you want to fight... good luck! |

lol It's not even possible to flee without teleporting. The hordes of orcs start out too close to the town hall for that.

It is possible, but you need to have a potion of speed.
With this you can outrun them.
I got to the map reference, but there is nothing there!
I assume that Variaz has got to build the town and add to the story.

Yup! The fall of Udor is the end of the beta! Next beta will feature the big city of Jindar... as well as at least one other minor town(which I'm almost done creating!) between Udor and Jindar. Jindar will not be complete in the next beta though. Probably only a couple of quests. I mean, it's a 15 cells town we're talking about here! Lots of houses, lots of stuff to do, lots of characters to create... but it will take a while to make it fully complete! |
