First, do the traditional item Resists, ie. Fire Resist do as in other *bands reduce damage by a fixed amount? And do spell based resists (if they still exist) add to these?
Secondly, some items, skills or abilities gives Resitance as a %. Is this a fixed reduction in damage taken, or a chance to entirely avoid the effect?
Third, do these effects stack? ie. Fire Resist + Spell resistance? Spell Resistance + Spell Resistance? Or are they sequential as in Roll to avoid damage, and if that fails apply reduced damage?
Basically I saw that Dragon just long enough to vaporize when he breathed in my direction and POOF! I was at -600 hp.

Resists gives a fixed amount, while magic resistance given by spells and abilities is percentile based. And both fire resist and spell resist will stack(although spell resist + spell resist won't). However, in 1.8.0, it will be changed. All resistances are going to be percentile(actually, it's a already done! , and each items will be able to provide a variable amount of resistance to one or more elements. I think it will be much better this way!

Right now, I would say it's in "playable alpha" state. This mean that a basic town and a dungeon are there, with shops and the new monster system, resistance system, damage calculations and various improvements over the previous version! However, there is a lot of work left to do. Right now, there are no quests, no dialogues, no story or anything... Variaz isn't even converted to the new system yet! Also, monster recall needs to be redone, as each monsters can now have their unique attacks and spells, since you can customize both of them. I have not yet played enough with Monster Mage, Soul Guardian and the Monster race to ensure they work 100% nice with the new system. Also, there may be some broken abilities, with all the changes to resistances, brands, monster system, etc etc... So as you can see, there's a lot left to do. But I will do some more tweaking, and then release the alpha version, so you can get a glimpse of what's coming... and perhaps make a few monsters!
