What happens to bonuses when you multiclass; do they stack or are they replaced?
For example: if you start as a fighter and have +33% str +25% con -25% wis -50% mana
and then you multiclass to warrior, is do your abilities get adjusted as +58% str +50% con -25% wis -70% mana
or the flat warrior adjustments of +25% str +25% con -20% mana
or does something else happen?
Also, if you multi-class Fighter, then Warrior, can you multi-class back to Fighter at a later date?

Bonuses/penalities do not stack. When you change class, the bonuses becomes that of the new class. So if you were a Fighter, and had: +33% Str +25% Con -25% Wis -50% mana Then, if you change to Warrior, new stats will be: +25% Str +25% Con -20% mana It does not stack. And yes, if you become a Warrior, you can change back to Fighter at any times, as many times as you want, without any penalities.

Good to know, cheers. Might I suggest creating some kind of average adjustmen of the classes taken, otherwise it could be easy to abuse the classes for the stats. You could be a priest in town for example, if you wanted priest abilities, but flip to paladin during the actual dungeoneering to take advantage of the better ability adjustments and immunity to fear. Great game by the way Really enjoying the game

You can't actually switch class in the middle of a dungeon. You have to be in town.

I'm aware.
However, its not a great inconvenience to travel up to the town to pile up on ability points for one class, then change back to your dungeoneering class.

Indeed. It was never meant to be a great inconvenience. Once you reach class level 3 in a class, you are free to change to this class as many times, as often as you want. I don't plan on making multi-class harder.

But maybe priest can have better bonuses, because paladin's bonus is really higher and priest class useful only for taking abilities and then immediately switching to someone another. Of course if there'll be a High priest class, all will be OK, but now... What about Wisdom+33%?

Maybe I will give the Priest a bonus to wisdom-based casting. After all, the mage has a mana bonus, so the Priest should get a bonus to wisdom-casting.

Archer is another case; you would be better off adventuring with ranger or rogue, switching only to archer in the town if you wanted to take advantage of archer skills. They may be a little more tempting to take if they had, perhaps, +50% dexterity, or +25% dexterity and a bonus to missile weapons.

The problem with +50% Dex is that this could benefit melee characters almost as much as ranged characters, especially those who focus in Weapon Finesse. But the skill bonus approach is probably the best option. A bonus to Shooting could be a nice plus. Or to all the ranged skills, but then give the Archer some penality to melee skills...a bit like the monk.

I'm just feilding opinions here, its your choice to disregard them if you want , but it would be nice and somewhat fitting if all the classes had some kind of adjustment which makes them distinct and superior at what they do. That way an archer archer would be superior to a rogue archer, while at the moment, the rogue archer has several advantages, not necessarily advantages that the archer would find extremely useful, but advantages they would simply get above and beyond a straight archer archer. Sorry if I'm getting a bit wordy.

If you have ideas, feel free to modify the classes.txt file in the lib/edit directory. You can play with the bonuses/penalities there. If you make something nice, you can always post it in the Forge!

Having a bit of a play with different classes at the moment. Got a Level 7 character who is mage4, priest3 and now warrior1. Obviously I can't change back now, but the process reminds me a little of Final Fantasy X-2 where you can change dresspheres. Its actually pretty cool.
