So, the wilderness in my game has all turned dark; it's really a pain the navigate now, as I dont see anything until I'm on top of it, and random Dungeon entrances are no longer shown on the map so I can navigate to them... Is this part of some day/night cycle? I've waited quite a while and it hasn't turned light again yet....

Yes, it is night time. If ye hold the control key and press "t", it will tell ye the time of day. The sun rises at 0600, and sets at 1800.
Towns and other "special" wilderness screens are always lit up, except if the sun actually sets while ye are in them. (If ye are walking around town, and it turns to 1800, ye gets the message "The sun sets", and everything goes dark. If ye change screens and come back, it will be perma-lit again)
If I recall the timing correctly, I believe 600 turns at normal speed is one hour. I could be off on that however, been a long time since I looked.
