Hi, I have not had any troubles running all the previous versions on FUSION a mac virtual machine app, that lets you run other OSs. (Actually I haven't had any trouble running any applications at all with this). I have XP SP2 installed.
However, the latest Alpha release (with enchanters) seems to be giving a serious problem as the application opens the 3 windows, but doesn't even show the wellcome message. When I try to click on New, it will tell me that I cannot do that operation yet. I'd love to know enough to do a package for mac, but I really dont know enough programing to even know where to start.
Anyway, thanks for looking at it if you get a chance, and thanks again for this nice game, that makes me forget about time so often.
Benigno.

Hmmm...never tried it on a VM, and the only VM software I have access to is VMWare. I'm afraid I can't really test it out... Try to reboot the machine, reinstall Portralis... At this point, this is all I can suggest.

Well, actually Fusion is VMWare, its VMWare Fusion.
I have already tried the reinstalling.. still no luck. It is funny though, I dont know what changes have been put into this alpha, but just yesterday I was playin' fine with just last alpha.
It gets stuck when trying o show the wellcome screen, you even see the cursor at about 3/4s of the first line.
Anyway, cheers, Benigno.

Sounds like it is having a problem loading...try messing with the settings on the window menu? I had a problem similar though not the same as this when I first downloaded 3.0 (much older version) in February.

I suggest right clicking on the window title bar opening the window menu and choosing a different font to see if things show up.
I ran into a glitch where if I ran portralis on a remote machine via a mapped drive, it ran ok, but when I later rand directly on the machine it wouldn't display until i switched fonts or rebooted. As near as I can tell, it doesn't release the font files correctly when it closes. It may be that if you had run the previous version, then upgraded the program, that it couldn't open the files correctly.

Ok, Finally got it to work. I uninstalled everything that had been installed in the last week, and it started working again... didnt know it might have dependencies of that sort.
Anyway, I have been trying the enchanter class and it seems like a good fun, however, whenever I hit someone with my branded weapons, I get very funny long messages where the damages log is displayed, talking about handlers and things like those. Whenever I use my spells or other things messaging goes as expected, and even when the messages show wrong, it seems to be doing what it should.
Anyone else experiencing a similar problem?
Cheers, benigno.

Thats a lua debug message stating you found an error...next time you get one post it in the bugs section so that Variaz can know where to look to fix it.
The critical things to note are what script name...(passive.lua? element.lua? init.lua?) and the line #.
