Hello everyone just felt like introducing myself. Im so glad I finally found portralis again!
I've been searching for this variant forever but could not remember the name of it, all I could remember was "It had elite and boss monsters, and a cool class and magic system." Havent played in over a year though and I must say, the new changes are great. Too bad monster mage is still broken though. Having a bunch of fun between my human mage and 1 headed hydra. Took me forever to figure out the sewer, I died so many times trying to use scrolls and staves until I figured out what amulet I needed to complete.
One question though, is it worth it staying a Mage to max it out as much as I can, or should I move on to High Mage? Absorb Magic and Force Field are some real life savers and Magic Missile is just awesome. Currently trying to tackle the demon worshippers hideout in the forest with my mage, and the undead ruins with my Hydra. This hydra is an interesting beast, I completely stomped through the first areas but now im regretting focusing on Physical and Poison attacks with all these ghosts around...

Welcome to the forum Sradec. For future questions you might want to go to the Strategy and Tips part of the forum. There are plenty of helpful things already there and it is more likely to get you a quick response.
RE: Mage. Portralis is a game that focuses on multiclassing and combos of multiclass abilities/skills. My recommendation would be to experiment. Try things. If you really worry about messing it up you can always scum save (make a back up of the save file) and retry if things go horribly south.
Good luck.

Welcome to the forums! At this point, the Animated Knight ability would need some rework(perhaps it's more the whole pet system actually...), so if you can switch to High Mage now, you might as well do that. The elemental lord's piercing spells ability could be used to make ghosts vulnerable to poison, so if you focused on poison, you might want to try this ability.

well yeah that would work, but monsters dont have access to normal classes, or did that change? My Hyrdra was the one having trouble with the ghosts.

Oh, sorry... For the Monster race, you have Inner Elemental Mastery, which can be activated to make enemies vulnerable. You also get a damages bonus to that specific element, but you need resistances, and the hydras don't have any.
