Hiya, I am trying to create a Dwarven Warrior focused on Mining (and therefore picks) to eventually become a Fire(Earth made more sense to me, but fire seems more useful) I'm having a hell of a time with the prison part of the main quest, I can't seem to blaze through it like I would do with my monk, I haven't really played a regular Warrior swords/axeman so I'm kind of hurting between the difference in power at an early level.
My problem, isn't the damage, ive got ~400-3000 damage with my plain pickaxe, with a mining skill of 44, which I guess is okay considering its not a fancy pickaxe, also with a strength of 12.
So im wondering if points in Fighting would add to my to hit...which is a miserable 12, my to d is 80, which i guess is ok? my to a is 9...I feel like somethings wrong...but when I go raise my Fighting, nothing changes 0.0...so I'm stumped.
**edit**
Yeah, gained a level and I can't seem to get any to-hit from the mining skill, or fighting, only way I'm seeing that its going up is Martial Arts, but I won't be getting much because the pick is pretty heavy, though using leather armor, instead of my half plate might help with that.
**aha**
Accurate strike makes it a bit more tolerable, and I completely forgot about battle skill...oops XD

Dex is the stat that raises your to_hit. You need dex, unless you're making an Accurate Strike/Combat Feats build.
