Hello all! I'm back at playing some Portralis, having lots of fun with a Holy Bolt-oriented Celestial Paladin. ;D I want to know if there is a way to manually "activate" or "assign" tiles for monsters and the char you are playing, since I see the 16x16 tiles file with all the terrain, objects and monster tiles but right now only the terrain ones are displayed. I would like to know if it can be done.

There's a file you can modify, graf-new.prf, in \lib\user. It controls the graphics. Note that most monster graphics are obsolete, which is why they were disabled in the first place. Many items are as well.

I see, then I will wait for tiles implementation if you decide to do that. And I don't understand all those hexadecimal orders either! ;D But even then, there would be a problem with elites and bosses / nightmares (yes I met one ), because you wouldn't know if they are or not until you looked at them with *

Nightmares are no different than other monsters in terms of char color, they do not have their own colors, although they do tend to use red or black quite often. Not always though.
In any cases, graphical tiles for monsters may not come for a long time, if ever. It already takes some time to make an interesting monster, and I wouldn't want to make it even more difficult by having to make a graphic for it.

I've been pondering on how to do this, graphically, the best way I can think of is to add some kinda badge to the corner of the graphic, like a shield or a ^ with an E on it for elite and a crown for bosses.
Items would be another hurdle, cause there are (purple, blue, yellow, green, orange and red) four colors for items purple through green, maybe a star corresponding to the color? Items orange and red would be special, a cute lil anvil for the crafted-enchanted items? Soul-bound items could have something like a crystal ball, reds could have a scary face or a pentagram or some such.
Of course, this detail would mean 32X32 tiles, I feel kinda iffy batch processing Adam's tiles, when Portralis obviously is special enough to warrant a set of its very own...hmm *does some maths to figure out how many tiles that would be*
