This would be an awesome idea. After all, how many of us have experimented with a new combo only to find out that we've basically ruined our characters? It would also help bring non-monsters in-line with monsters since monsters are a bit more difficult to ruin.
Just a thought.

The only thing I'm worried about is "retraining abuse". So the monster is weak against fire? Make a Fire-Specialized fire lord! Oh, wait, next boss is immune to fire...reset, make a cold-based one! And so on...
And then, with anything being resettable at any times, all characters would basically be the same in the end. There would need to be some sort of limits.

I don't think re-classing should be included, particularly in the case of changing elemental lord type. Some method of reclaiming skill & ability points could be nice however. I would think it would have to be done via some special NPC in town. Being able to remake yerself in the dungeon would be overly unbalancing I feel.
I would also think it should be fairly spendy, but that isn't terribly limiting after the beginning area of the game. When I play, I run into the point where gold has little value except to buy Scrolls of Eternalness (forgot the name, sorry), and some other basic consumables.

And here I was thinking that on some characters gold is very much an issue until very late in the game. Some characters need more gold than others obviously, but almost all benefit from say buying scrolls of Magic Item, and Item Leveling. Scrolls of Eternal Item are not even that expensive by comparison. And then there are the uber rings etc. Anyway gold is NOT useless after the beginning area imho unless you are a crafter and then it still has a value as you need to be able to buy materials at times.
I like the idea of being able to reset a single skill or stat but I think it needs to be done in quest form to keep it in balance. Such quests have no monetary or fame reward but give you an item which if you use it allows you to reset something specific. I think skills should not be allowed more than 50% reset per try though. Part of the game is figuring out the strategy you will need to survive to the end. If you decide you really wish you had not invested all your skills in Axes because you found a great sword that you want to use then you pay the price for not leaving your options open.
I don't think reseting the element etc was even mentioned Variaz. I don't beleive anyone wants that except maybe as a Wish effect. Wishes can go horribly wrong as we all know.

I think it should be hard to readjust skill levels if it's possible at all. I also think abilities shouldn't be readjustable short of a major quest or wish. In any case, I don't think any stat, skill, or ability, other than currently unspent ones, should be adjustable while actually in a dungeon.
