"I'm always thoughtful of dedicated players. " Any word one when this build might be near completion? I've been silently waiting and not posting hoping that things would move along. Meanwhile I have been playing other games to bide my time.

Not sure. There's still quite a bit of stuff I want to do before releasing it, such as fixing the "Horrow Show" thread and replacing the bad abilities. Then there's still the Bard, and then the Rogue and Marksman needs to be remake. I also want to put a few more quests for this one.
I'm afraid there's still some time before 008 comes out. Although if peoples wants to try the Mining and Music skills, I suppose I could release some sort of 008 alpha or something.

Hey, Variaz? I know it's been a long, looong time since I posted, but I have a suggestion. Possibly, you could make a Mining subquest, with some kind of Mine dungeon. Perhaps an NPC of some sort would request specific amounts of various gems and jewels from the Mine, and you could Mine in the stone or whatever kind of common wall the mine might have to find those jewels, instead of just money.

It will be possible since the mining treasures dropping is all lua scripted. An NPC could activate a quest, and gems would start appearing in the dungeon until you find them all. Very doable.

Adventurers beware! Monsters of the Flow past depth 40+ can now have some special abilities, like normal monsters of that level. So if you feared the auras of the Fire and Cold giants, beware, that Perverted Pink Dwarf might just have his own aura as well!
The good new, however, is that I have nerfed the early flow bosses. While I want to keep them challenging, encountering a boss with 1 life and 600000+ hp in a depth 5 item was just plain sick. My poor Bard really didn't enjoy this encounter. So the flow bosses below depth 20 are no longer generated with an increased depth level. Flow Bosses of 20-39 receives a bonus, but a bit lower now. 40+ uses the same old formula.

Any news? Did the test bard survive?

The test Bard died in a vault of the Flow, though his second life seems to be lucky so far.
I've also started building the town that I mentionned I would build for the next release. An NPC in Jindar mentionned a town called Ophelia north of Jindar, remember? (you probably don't) Well, it's that town I'm building.
Also, regarding dialogues, I added more color codes to dialog answers. An answer related to high charisma will appear in green. An answer related to high alignment will appear in yellow, while an answer related to low alignment will appear in red.

Pretty much finished the first quest related to the new town I'm building. It's not actually the town's "main quest", but it's a minor subquest, but it's reward will nevertheless prove to be very useful if you succeed in completing it. And now, onto making the town's main quest.

You're right that at this point, 0.3 has pretty much evolved into 0.4. Guess moving up the version wouldn't hurt!

For now, I have disabled stealing in shops. It was quite ridiculous, there just wasn't enough penalities to justify it being there. Since it wouldn't reduce your alignment below 0, and it wouldn't prevent you from visiting the shop again, you really had nothing to lose trying to steal items unless you play a Champion of Good character. My Bard didn't have the 70000 golds to buy that amulet of the Ninja, but he DID have dexterity, so he just stole it. +15 Dex/Agi for free? I'd take that anytime. But my conscience is hurt. So for now, stealing is disabled. Not sure if I will put it back, in which case in would be a Rogue ability, but I haven't decided if I will keep the Thievery ability or not. I'll probably make the Rogue more of a stealthy or swashbuckler type character than a thief.

Hmmm I for one would like to keep thievery. Need to find a better way to balance it and make it broader usewise anyway.

Hmmm I for one would like to keep thievery. Need to find a better way to balance it and make it broader usewise anyway. Not that I want to remove it entirely. But in it's current form, it's too good early on, and midway through the game becomes nearly 100% useless. Thievery is down there with Accurate Shot and Monstrous Life Force in terms of useless abilities. The two stores you'd want to steal from in the late game, the rare items shop and the dungeon shop, cannot be stolen from. If anyone has any ideas about thieving, let me know! (maybe open a new thread)

If everything goes well, the release date for build 008(or maybe Portralis 0.4) will be the 1st of May. I believe this release has dragged long enough, and it's time I upload some update. Setting a release date should put some pressure on me to work a bit more on it. The Bard, Music and Mining skills are done, and this will give me the time to remake the Rogue and Marksmen, as well as finish the new quest for the new town and do some testing and playing.
