So, I was playing around with the Elvish Arcane Archer, and its somewhat fun Enchanted Arrow ability. Now, I have a few questions/comments about this.
1. This ability can be used with or without a bow and arrow. When you use it while wearing a bow and arrows, you lose arrows with each use, until you use it without arrows.
2. After putting some points in it, the ability seems to do at least 3 times more average damage without wielding a bow an arrow. Case in point: I use it a good few times on Gorg, doing about 50-80 damage a shot, until I run out of iron arrows. When I run out of them, I seem to automatically unequip my bow on the next use of it. Now, I'm doing 200-300 average damage with it, killing Gorg rather quickly.
Why is this? Does it make actual arrows obsolete for monsters that have an "arrow" ability/attack? While this isn't necessarily a bad thing, I was just wondering.

Ok, if you equip a ranged weapon and ammos, you will use regular ranged attacks. The ranged specials will use regular ranged base damages based on your weapon and ammos, and then enhances them based on how many points you placed in them(+20% per points), and apply their own elements.
If you don't use ranged weapons and ammos, you will use "natural" damages, which will be enhanced depending on how many points you've placed in the abilities.
If you're using ranged weapons, use the ranged specials with "U", that's how it's meant to be used. Otherwise, you won't benefit from it.

Yay, thanks for the info! I suppose if I find some good late-game ammos and whatnot, it will be more useful to use them, but for now I'm sticking to enhancing the natural damages and using them for now.
