Ok, I would like to make a quest in which you fight through a small series of caves, but I don't exactly know how things like the locations of quest areas, scripted enemies, etc and diaolog with npcs and so forth work. Maybe some help?

Quests?

A few months ago I tried to create something myself... and actually made something, but then real-life issues (i.e. lack of time) put the project on hold. Anyway, I know that I scanned through many of the currently available quests and dialogues, and that helped me to understand the mechanics. So just open up a few files and see what's going on in there - it's a good start, and you'll quickly figure out the basics. The templates are also very nice and useful... For more detailed explanation, of course, others will know how to help better than me. Have fun!

Most of the towns and quests are commented and have templates to guide you. You can look at r_info_template.txt to make the monsters, you can use blanktown.txt and Q_template.txt for towns/quests templates. w_info.txt is where you will place the town in the world. (by "town", I mean any predefined outdoor areas, which are not necessarely towns. The Fidac ruins, for example, is considered a town.)
For dialogues, look in the "file" directory, and files that begins by d followed by a number, such as d15.txt and the like, are dialogue files. You can look at dtemplate.txt for dialogues templates.
