Indeed, though new monsters can always be added, so it would need constant updating, which I'm not sure I want to do everytime I create a new monster...

The best way to find which letter can evolve into which monster - is to look in "<gamefolder>\lib\edit\r_info.txt" and find there strings "G:<letter>:" - this list will be always up-to-date

Playing a Lich sounded pretty cool so just tried creating one, but it doesn't accept it..... Surely it's just a case of typing L when it asks for a character (dragons work ok tho P for giants doesn't either...) Is this correct or am I just being dumb & need to type a different letter ? r info file uses a L for them so i thought it should work..... This doesn't work in either the latest full version or the alpha so it must be me I guess Also just had 2 "special feelings" in a random dungeon 16th & 18th levels with hasn't given anything special... used to mean an artifact was to be found - has this changed or is it a bug ? Thanks for a great game btw - can't keep away ;D

There's a limit of depth for the monsters you choose. Lich simply don't have low-level enemies.
I made skeletons able to evolve into liches now though. Not sure if the current upload includes it, but the next one definitly will!

I dont think look and feel are indications of anything in the game anymore except that you might find something interesting (or not. )

Indeed. More like a relic from the past than anything else.

I know this thread is VERY old, but I just thought of something.
Maybe some of the more powerful evolutions (read: Great Wyrms, etc.) would require you to stockpile essences of those creatures before you could evolve. They could even be level-independent (you just need to be an Ancient Dragon first). I mean, hunting down and killing 10-20 Great Wyrms should be enough to warrant an evolution. Or maybe you have to get a "special" essence that's a rare drop from them. Just a thought.

Each essences of a specific monster that you carry with you reduces by 1 the level required for the evolution. For example, a Mature Prismatic Dragon requires level 40, but beat 10 of them and carry their essences, and the requirement is now 30. You can get up to 20 levels discount this way!

I was aware of that, and I think it's pretty awesome. I was just talking about evolutions that might be gotten only by special means. Just a thought. :-)
