I've made an interesting discovery today. I usually run mage characters, and naturally sink most of my stat points into intelligence. When shopping in town I use a raise charisma spell to send my usually troll-like charisma into the stratosphere for about 3 turns. Not long, but enough for my to enter the store, make my purchase, and leave. Today I accidentally sold a magic shop a scroll of eternality I had just bought from the rare shop for my equipment. When I tried to buy it back, with my raise charisma spell active, I noticed that the selling price was about 6,000 gold less than what the shop had payed me for it! I made 6,000 gold of the trade! Seeing a golden opportunity, I conducted a few more "trades" and managed to get the shopkeepers to give me several hundred thousand gold for nothing. Very nice of them to do that for me.

Yeah, we know your in the pocket of the shopkeepers guild. How much did they pay you this time? When trouble happens its always, "please help us mr adventurer save us from the orcs and keep them from destroying our city" but when I try to get some equipment to kill those orcs its always "you want that sword, then pay 1 zillion gold for it you shiftless knave" Well, aside from the rant about the undue influence of shopkeepers in world design, I kind of figured that was not intended as a game feature.

I think this is the reason that it is such gleeful fun to play evil bastards who burglarize (that is steal stealthfully), kill (murder and take what you want), and rob (threaten to murder and take what you want) from the poor village shop keepers in those games that let you do that.

Portralis is meant to support those evil bastards too! You can attack anyone that you meet! There's even a Smite Good spell, if you found it.

It is the single most common spell-book I've found, even more than Missle, lol.

I found 3 on floor 5 once. I think it's still about even with Missle though.
