I seem to remember that you were wondering if half elves could use a little tweaking as they seemed like an elf lite. I was thinking that a couple small changes would differentiate them from other races without making them too powerful.
My thoughts: --remove the bow and spellcraft skill bonuses --add a martial arts skill bonus of 20 or 25%
This would give those who wanted to play a martial arts skilled character an easy place to turn, but I don't think it would be too powerful. Anyway, it's something I thought of that may be a starting point for potential adjustments.

hmmm... why martial arts though? The choice is a little odd, as neither elves nor humans have bonus to martial arts... Though in Portralis, I portray Nimbraya, the elves kingdom, as being religious, and being ruled by a high priestess. So it's safe to say that since Half-Elves doesn't have full elvish wisdom to make great caster priests, they choose to become monks instead of priests, therefore becoming more skilled in combat while still remaining members of religious community. I actually like it! That, and the fact that in RPGs, Half-Elves have never been associated with martial arts, makes it very interesting! However, since the bonus to bow/spellcraft is not very high(10%...), I think I will keep it, in addition to giving +25% to martial arts. That will make the race more attractive!

Well, I officially implemented this change! I really liked it, and it fits well in the story too! I also tweaked the description of the half-elves a bit: --- Half-Elves are a cross between an elf and a human. Outside of Nimbraya, there are little Half-Elves, as the Elves lives mostly in the southern forests of Portralis. In Nimbraya, however, they are very abundant, as humans and elves coexist peacefully in this beautiful kingdom. In the very religious kingdom of Nimbraya, half-elves who wish to be part of the religious community generally become monks instead of priests, as they are less magical, but stronger than normal elves. Half-Elves are therefore very common in Nimbraya. Half-Elves shares traits from both races. They are a little more dextrous, but a little frailer and weaker than humans. They tend to be a little wiser, but tend to be less creative. They are good at spellcasting and archery, but do not learn other skills as easily as their human counterparts. However, the Nimbrayan tradition of Half-Elves monks have made martial arts a common practice amongst all half-elven citizens. As such, most half-elves know some martial arts, and they make amongst the best monks in Portralis. --- The bonus is +25% to martial arts skill, in addition to all the other small bonus they already have!

That sounds good. In general, I really don't like maritial arts characters all that well, but they would be very nice for that.
As for the fantasy background, I've never hear of half elves being martial arts types, either. I thought it would work well for game balance, though. The only reason I thought that martial arts might be good for half elves is similar to that of why many monks learned unarmed combat: other weapons were prohibited. Still, I thought of it because it would help balance out the races a little.
