I would just like to comment on the excellent balance of this marvelous game!
In version 1.7.0, I found the game rather easy. Monsters were not that tough, and I also found some seriously out-of-depth items in the first couple of levels which made the whole thing even easier.
Perhaps I was just lucky. Or perhaps 1.7.0 was actually easier?
However, if there *WAS* a change in this aspect for version 1.7.1, I can but approve of it! So far as I've played 1.7.1, the game seems just about as tough as it should be. I still die quite a lot when I'm not paying attention, and some monsters can be a real threat even in early levels.
Anyway, I just want to say that currently (even if there was a change from 1.7.0 to 1.7.1 or not) the game balance is perfect. And the same goes for classes. Each one has some advantages and some serious disadvantages, which make the multi-class approach a necessity!

Thanks you! Yes, 1.7.1 is harder than 1.7.0. The monsters were boosted. They have more hp, more defense, more hit rate, and so should be much harder. Thei max hp cap was 2000000 in 1.7.0, now it's 5000000! Item generation code was also revised so you probably didn't find anything that great early in the game, unlike 1.7.0 where you could sometimes come across an item that would give +6 to stats and +60% life in the early levels. Finally, magic attacks of monsters will now improve even more with their high levels! Be prepared for some tough magical attacks later!

well, that's it, I'm going to have to download 1.7.1 now, not only because vampires work, but also for the balance issues.
