Please bring them back. I really can't stand tiles. I don't care if they're not default, just let me see @ again instead of some silly golden blob. :/

I hate tiles, too! When I started playing roguelikes, my mind still full of Diablo and stuff like that, I thought they were necessary, but when I switched to ASCII for the first time, well... @ looks so *d**n* cute! ;D Anyway, you can choose ASCII graphics simply by *UN*checking the graphic tiles option. That's it! Have fun!

In the next release, ASCII will be by default, don't worry. And now, even in tiles mode, the player will still be an @.

i like the @ symbol too... but i also *LOVE* monster graphics, (And i think that we should be able to set up a 32*32 or larger (Linleys Dungeon Crawl tileset sized.) in a seperate window then our normal one. I think that would be awesome.
Just remember, with Ascii, you have to be careful not to make things confusing. I like being able to tell one "U" tile from anotehr at a glance. I cant do that unless i use the 'l'ook command in ascii mode.

I can't believe I missed something that obvious. Thanks.
