Simply he starts talking about his king's fate and... boom, stuck.
Looking around i found his lines in d32.txt and, well, looking around some more i also found Zailab's lines, noticing the connection.
I suspect there is a problem with the death of either character in the companion's dialogue, is there a way for my poor High Mage to continue the conversation? Note, i've killed Zailab long before going in the mines...

in the Basement of the oddities shop there are 4 "nothing"s in the basement, near the copper statues (or whatever crap the merchant tries to sell you )
