After spending some time with a dwarven miner/crafter character (warrior-defender-enchanter), I'm now trying the almost opposite : an elven priest/ranger specializing on wisdom casting. I've raised wisdom quite a bit, through base points, Divine Blood and items, and lowered spells cost a bit thorugh the Channeling ability. I've been doing fine casting only spells whose final cost is less than my character's wisdom, so have 100% success rate. I have yet to buy the ability "Improved Wisdom Casting", but I don't understand the description well. I'm interested mainly in 100% success rate spells. The description says "the casting strength will also increase, allowing you to cast more spells for free", but automatic success is supposed to be only when "Wisdom >= spell's cost". Will that change through this ability (as an indirect consequence of casting strength increase)?

Thanks you for reminding me that the wisdom casting formula needs to be changed in the upcoming 0.5! ;D It really needs to be simplified to be more understandable.
It allows "free spells" in the sense that a successful wisdom-casted spell costs 0 mana, and it will happen more often with this ability, though it does not guarantee 100% success rate.
