After applying my above fix for physical returning, I discovered a new bug. Returned physical damage is subject to magic resistance effects. Well, only the magic defense skill for certain, but the other effects use the same checks. It's somewhat amusing that I could conceivably reflect the returned damage back to the monster again.

I believe this is a bug, so I'll put this here.
when you cast smite undeads or smite demons and the damage is returned, you take damage. That seems strange. I would think that no class/race combo would take damage from smite undeads and only demons and devlings would take damage from smite demons.

Yes, it's a bug. Well, more of an oversight really. I know what I have to fix in the elements.lua file.

Mysticisim is still listed as Healing when making spells.

Something realy wrong in the bottom of the undead dungeon under the old ruined temple near Fidac. Every time my character enters meets a ton of skeletal warriors, one of them magic immune, and no one can hit or cast a spell or anything else. At last the program go to meet icebergs at the northen pole... Can you give mee hope to earn good alignment there:)?

You will gain alignment by beating Fidac's Ruins and go back to Evolia. By icebergs, I assume you talk about Rhyzendal. Keep in mind that the demons that lives there are more civilized than their dungeon-dwelling counterparts. Their background is explained in the story at the beginning of the game, and I believe more information is available in the parchement about Shan. So if you kill them, you will LOSE alignment. But yes, there will be opportunities to do good in Rhyzendal. In every kingdoms in fact. Use of alignment is something that I really want to expand in the future, as it makes you actually care about what you say during dialogues, and adds to the gameplay.

Sorry for my ambiguous words. In hungarian terms went to meet icebergs = broke = chill out.
There are an error in the game. I can't clear the dungeon, because the bottom level out of order...
But thank you very much for your promising words about alignment:)

the word you want is "crashed" which while english in derrivation is pretty much accepted terminology through out the world of computing to mean the program exited poorly and without warning.

Ok so Ive been trying to find ways to make my diviner better able to survive past the level 10 dungeons and so I turned to yet another school: Conjuration and came smack up to the old henchmen take damage and turn on you bug. Summoned a (p) got a street thug...Thug got hit by a ball spell from a geomancer and then decided to beat on me for it. That just seems decidedly unfair. Had the same difficulty with my summon Golem spell. Golem didnt fight against the advancing pikeman...got hit and disappeared from sight only to reappear and start attacking me. Needless to say spending a few hundred mana (when my total mana is 600 or so) to summon a defender who betrays me at the first possibility is really annoying. Hopefully you can track this bug down finally and kill it dead dead dead.

Blue items are bugged. Either they are supposed to start at level 0 and 1 tweak point or level 1 and 1 point. Not both. I suspect it is the 0 levels that are bugged. I found this out by making an item capable of leveling using a scroll of Item leveling. That made a level 1 item. The items Ive ided all start at level 0 and have a tweak point.

The magic item bug is known. Variaz posted a fix at variaz.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=bugreports&action=display&thread=580 . Are you sure you are using release 002? I know elements.lua has the fix for angering pets in it. I just double checked for it in my version. If you want to get rid of the (nothing)s, you might try commenting out the sword of devestation in k_info.txt.

Yes Im sure Im using build 002... since I totally deleted all previous builds awhile ago and got build 002 off the site. Im not really interested in temporary fixes such as deleting (nothing) from k_info. I just wanted make sure it is remembered as a bug. Im not convinced the fix for pets suffices since I obviously had a problem with pets turning against me when damaged by enemy monsters. I have not had a character with summon kind since the last debacle so this is the first chance Ive had to experience this behavior...It doesnt make sense to me that is just some anomoly but *shrugs* its really not my problem...I just report the bugs when they occur. thanks for the link.

Except that fix totally did not work I bought yet another scroll (wasting even more gold) and got the SAME errors even though I patched the relevant function. Here is a poser: how does it select which item to make into a magic item? Within the game it makes an item and decides what its properties are on creation but if the item already exists how does it become one without being targeted/selected somehow? So what is missing imho is the hook function (with some user interface). ==EDIT== Took me a while to realize (stupidly) that it was a minor typo in my fix of the scroll calling make_item_magic...I used p_ptr.lvl for some reason. I guess for me thats the more intuitive abbreviation so I typed it without thinking to check and make sure that was right. My bad.
