I had another thought for rods and staves: perhaps licialhyds could be used in place of crystals for activation. My current major thoughts for this:
--They will activate to give the normal effects of licialhyds (hereafter just referred to as L). --Rods skill will give a small boost to the strength of the activation. I think about 2%/skill point may be a starting point. --Spellcraft would give a very small boost, say 1%/pt. --At rods skill 15 and above, the L would not be consumed just like crystals. --'Red' L would be given stats like regular ones. They would be more powerful, but would have all the misfortunes always get from 'reds'. --The L would be equipped in the crystal slot. You could only use one or the other at one time. --Perhaps the Flow code could be adjusted so that L could improve strength in a 'power' gate. Since they improve exponentially somehow(I'm not sure of the formula), they would have to improve appropriately so the power wouldn't become to great.
Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

Using licialhyds with rods brings some interesting possibilities, however, there are also some problems. Licialhyds can potentially be very powerful, either providing big stats boosts or big resistances. (yes, I know, they're mostly just overpriced "rarer-than-special-items" rocks that are semi-useful at the moment, which is the problem, as they were never meant to be a rare find. Something I should look forward fixing in the upcoming build...). Using them infinite times could be broken. As for nightmare licialhyds, I want them to keep their enchanting effect, and also the name of the particular nightmare you defeated, so you can use it as a trophy for defeating a particular nightmare! (and brag about it on the forum! ;D) I do have other plans for them though...

The new 'scroll of item leveling' certainly makes it a lot easier to get new items to usable level after you're into the game far enough to have the money. It makes it more useful to upgrade items at a good pace. It seems to reduce the value of crafting, though, as one of the benefits of crafting is that you get all the points up front.
By the way, did you have any more thoughts on the 'Scroll of the Mundane'? Something like that could be useful, although it certainly isn't necessary.

Oh, I like the new rings from Gando. They can be useful in the right circumstances.

Glad you like them. I've had (and lost) a ton more item ideas since then (august?) so there may be more to come eventually. Particularly in the artifacts department.
